Greetings From Kelties

Spring and Summer bring so many happy memories, they bring new life and a fresh start. As I stand in my kitchen cooking from my post, I often look out and happily see so many familiar faces visiting for lunch, brunch, and dinner.

Most recently, on Mother's Day, I looked out to see lots of small children gazing wide-eyed over our beautiful selection of desserts with such excitement and thrill on their faces.

This scene pleasantly reminded me of when I was a little girl. My parents would take us to Morris Bryant in West Lafayette for our birthdays. They had a beautiful buffet with more choices than I could imagine possible. I think back to visiting that restaurant with my family from time to time as I look out of the kitchen with a thankful heart as so many of you are making our restaurant a part of your family memories.

To continue in our tradition of sharing with you people who make our lives better, here is information about three people who are key to our success...

Our new full service bar is up and running, touting some of the best martinis around... thanks to our bartenders! Marc, Kurt and Kristi are such a great addition to our talented team.

During their lives outside Kelties, Kurt owns his own successful veterinary practice in Carmel, Marc is a mortgage professional, and Kristi is the mother of four beauties.

We're thrilled each of them have decided to share their evenings with us. Please stop by to enjoy one of their marvelous martinis.

What's Happening

Where you can find Kelties around town...

We are so proud and honored to be associated with the Estridge Companies. One of their newest endeavors is Wood Wind Golf Course, located at 161st Street and Towne Road, in Westfield on the former site of Bent Tree Golf Course. Estridge has made award-winning changes to the clubhouse, lodge, and golf course. Proudly, we have been selected as Wood Wind's preferred caterer! Working closely with the Estridge team, we will create beautiful, memorable events for you in their newly-remodeled lodge. So, as you are thinking about special events and family gatherings, consider Wood Wind's for all their wonderful amenities such as a full bar, outside deck overlooking the water, and gorgeous landscaping. This beautiful facility can accommodate up to 200 people and we look forward to helping you plan your next special affair or golf outing.

The new Westfield Market will open on Fridays from 4-7pm except for the 4th of July weekend. Conveniently located in our backyard, the newly remodeled parking lot will host farmers and craftsmen selling their wares. We are excited to be a part of the market, featuring our award winning bread pudding with caramel sauce along with offering some of our dressings. We hope to see you there!

For the third consecutive year, Kelties is a major sponsor of the Cool Creek Concert Series held at inviting Cool Creek Park. The series begins on Friday, June 13th and runs every Friday except for the 4th of July. Make plans to visit the market and bring your blanket to enjoy a family fun summer concert.

Etiquette Tip of the Month

I am so excited for my niece, Stephanie, and her fiancé, Josh, as they anxiously await their wedding date on June 28th. As our family plans for that joyous event, I wanted to share a few wedding etiquette tips to help you during the wedding season...

These wedding guidelines will put you in the gracious guest hall-of-fame:

• R.S.V.P. as soon as you receive the invitation. The bride and groom have a lot of decisions to make and your timely response will help with those.
  If responding yes, stick to your commitment; only cancel if there is an emergency.
• Do not take uninvited guests, friends, or children. If a child’s name is not on the invitation, unfortunately they are not invited and you should honor the couple's request.
• Send a wedding gift in advance; this is a thoughtful gesture, which frees up family and friends from toting all the gifts after a long, thrilling and exhausting day. If you cannot attend the wedding, do send a gift and attach a heartfelt note with your regrets.
• Turn off your cell phone during the ceremony. This is not your day, and the thought of your phone ringing during the nuptials will land you quickly in the guest hall-of-shame!
• During the reception, introduce yourself to everyone at your table and ask how they know the bride and groom.
• Of course, arrive on time. Allow for traffic and parking problems for a stress-free day for you and the happy couple.

Please pardon me while I stroll down memory lane and boast a bit...

My youngest brother, Dr. David Sullivan, and his wife, Leah, along with their precious two-year-old son, Zachary, will be relocating to Westfield.

I laugh as I vividly recall the day our parents gathered us around the kitchen table one summer night for a family meeting. Family meetings were not a normal occurrence so we had no idea what was in store. My oldest brother, Scot, thought we were getting in trouble. My brother, Jon, thought we were getting snowmobiles. I thought we were going on a trip to Disneyland. At the time we were 13, 15, and 17 so my parents telling us they were pregnant was quite a shock! I remember Scot shaking his head and saying, "Wow, Mom, aren't you too old to be pregnant?" She was only 36. My, how times have changed.

Needless to say, I am thrilled and proud to have him and his family living so close. David is a Podiatrist and will open his Podiatry office in mid-July. Westfield Foot and Ankle will be located in the Oak Ridge Professional Park across from Oak Trace Elementary School at 16411 Southpark Drive, Suite B. You can visit the website to learn about his practice and help me welcome David to town!
